The Delta Nu Chapter hosts a variety of social events for members of the organization and the campus community. Members and their guests attend a Semi-Formal each Fall and a Formal each Spring. At a recent Formal with the theme of Fire and Ice, everyone gathered for dinner, speeches, and awards. Following dinner, guests were welcome to dance on the dance floor and create fun coasters with Scrabble pieces.
Collaborations with other organizations to host social events are always fun. In the past on Halloween, the Sorority worked with a variety of other groups on campus to create a massive haunted house. Delta Nu constructed a particularly scary room filled with spiders and webbing.
Delta Nu also regularly plans a very popular campus event called the Life Raft Debate, in which professors of all disciplines are invited to argue why their field is the most important. Other academic-themed events include a 'magic show' utilizing scientific principles performed by a chemistry professor, presentations on resume building, and venturing into the Beloit College Archives to learn more about the history of women in higher education.
Also, this semester we are planning to have a new event called Practical Practicum. Members of Delta Nu and other Beloit students are invited to talk about a topic that they are very knowledgable of and passionate about. So far topics include math, philosophy, and museum studies.
